Unit Plan 12 (Grade 2 ELA): Organizing & Concluding Opinions
Second graders strengthen opinion writing by using linking words like because and also to connect their ideas. They organize opinions with clear reasons and write closings that logically follow, creating complete, polished paragraphs.

I. Introduction
Opinion writers make their ideas easy to follow. This week students organize opinion pieces with a clear opinion → reasons structure, use linking words (because, also) to connect ideas, and write closings that follow from what they said. With guidance, they’ll revise for organization and edit for capitals, end punctuation, and common spelling patterns so their paragraphs are clean and convincing.
