Total Unit Duration: 5 sessions (one week), 30–45 minutes per session
I. Introduction
In this unit, students learn how to share ideas and take action to make their classroom a kinder and more respectful place. They practice turning what they know about kindness, respect, and inclusion into simple posters or presentations using pictures, labels, and short sentences. Students also rehearse speaking clearly and listening to others’ ideas. By the end of the unit, the class will launch a small kindness campaign (e.g., hallway posters, classroom pledge) as a form of civic action.
Essential Questions
- How can we use posters and presentations to share ideas about kindness and respect?
- What does it look and sound like to show kindness, responsibility, and inclusion in our classroom?
- How can sharing ideas help us take action and make our classroom a better place?
- Why is it important to listen to each other and work together when we plan civic actions?
