Unit Plan 27 (Grade 3 Art): Preparing Artwork for Display
Grade 3 art unit where students mount artwork neatly and create clear labels, preparing display-ready pieces with strong presentation skills.
Focus: Prepare artwork for presentation by mounting it neatly and creating simple labels so viewers can easily see and understand each piece.
Grade Level: 3
Subject Area: Art (Visual Arts • Presenting)
Total Unit Duration: 1–3 weeks, 50–60 minutes per session
I. Introduction
In this unit, students learn how artists and galleries get artwork ready for display so it looks neat, respectful, and easy for viewers to understand. They practice mounting finished pieces on backing paper, checking edges and alignment, and creating simple labels with title and name. By the end of the unit, students will understand that how artwork is presented—not just what is drawn or painted—can change how people see and appreciate it.
Essential Questions
