I. Introduction

This week builds early comprehension talk. Students learn to ask and answer simple who/what/where/when questions about a read-aloud and use picture clues to support their ideas. They practice short, accurate retells (beginning–middle–end) with prompts, gestures, and sequenced images, then confirm understanding by listening and responding to peers.


II. Objectives and Standards

  1. Ask and answer simple questions (who/what/where/when) about key details in a story (RL.K.1).
  2. Retell a familiar story using picture clues and key events (RL.K.2; RL.K.7).
  3. Use illustrations (covers, pages, and sequence cards) to describe characters, settings, and events (RL.K.7).
  4. Confirm understanding after listening by asking/answering a follow-up question (SL.K.2).
