Grade Level: Kindergarten
Subject Area: English Language Arts (Informational Reading • Concepts of Print • Speaking/Listening)
Total Unit Duration: 5 sessions (one week), 45–60 minutes per session
I. Introduction
This week builds informational book awareness. Children learn to identify book parts (front cover, back cover, title page), name the author and illustrator and explain what each does, and use simple icons (labels/arrows) to talk about how illustrations teach. Daily routines emphasize pointing to evidence on real books and speaking in complete sentences.
