Unit Plan 34 (PreK Art): Final Art Selection
Preschool art unit where children review their artwork, choose a favorite piece, and explain why they selected it for a simple class exhibition.
Focus: Choose artwork to share with others in a simple class exhibition or display.
Grade Level: PreK
Subject Area: Art (Visual Arts • Presenting)
Total Unit Duration: 1–3 weeks, 20–30 minutes per session
I. Introduction
In this unit, preschool children look back at several pieces of their own artwork and practice choosing which piece they want to share in a class display or mini art show. With teacher support, they think about which artwork they feel proud of, which shows something from their life, or which they think friends and families will enjoy seeing. Children learn that artists make decisions about which artworks to show and that their choices and opinions are important. By the end of the unit, each child selects at least one artwork for the exhibition and can say a simple reason for their choice.
Essential Questions
- How do I choose which artwork I want to share with others?
- What makes a piece of my art feel special or important to me?
