Unit Plan 28 (PreK PE): Favorite Games
PreK PE helps children identify favorite activities through fun movement choices and simple voting, building confidence, safe play, and enjoyment of physical activity.
Focus: Help children identify and enjoy their favorite physical activities through playful voting, movement choices, and repeated chances to revisit the games they like most.
Grade Level: PreK
Subject Area: Physical Education (Enjoyment of Play • Choice-Making • Favorite Activities)
Total Unit Duration: 2 core sessions + 2 optional sessions (1–2 weeks), 20–30 minutes per session
I. Introduction
PreK students continue building movement confidence by learning that PE can include many different kinds of fun, and that it is okay to notice which activities feel the most exciting, comfortable, or joyful. At this age, children benefit from simple choice-making opportunities that let them revisit familiar games while practicing how to share preferences in a safe group setting. This unit uses choice-based movement warm-ups as the warm-up and then moves into students voting for favorite activities, where children help choose and replay games they enjoy. The goal is to help children recognize favorite activities, participate happily in movement, and build positive feelings about active play.
