Grade Level: PreK
Subject Area: Physical Education (Active Participation • Movement Games • Enjoyment of Play)
Total Unit Duration: 2 core sessions + 2 optional sessions (1–2 weeks), 20–30 minutes per session
I. Introduction
PreK students continue building movement confidence by learning that fitness activities can feel like games instead of workouts. At this age, children benefit from simple, high-movement activities that include short bursts of action, easy rules, and lots of chances to rejoin and keep going. This unit uses jumping jacks and jogging as the warm-up and then moves into Clean the Yard, where children throw beanbags across a center line to keep their side of the yard clean. The goal is to help children stay active for short periods of time, enjoy playful movement, and connect fitness with fun.
