Unit Plan 23 (PreK PE): Try Again

Focus: Help children respond positively to teacher feedback by practicing simple movement and ball skills, listening to a helpful cue, and trying the skill again with confidence.

Subject Area: Physical Education (Feedback & GrowthSkill PracticePositive Effort)

Total Unit Duration: 2 core sessions + 2 optional sessions (1–2 weeks), 20–30 minutes per session

I. Introduction

PreK students continue building movement confidence by learning that it is okay for skills to feel tricky at first. At this age, children benefit from short practice tasks, clear teacher cues, and repeated chances to try again right away after receiving help. This unit uses balance practice as the warm-up and then moves into skill stations where children retry skills with teacher feedback. The goal is to help children learn that feedback is helpful, trying again is part of learning, and effort can help skills improve.
