I. Introduction

This unit helps Grade 1 students revisit and strengthen the habits that help the library run well every day. By this point in the year, many first graders are ready to manage books, centers, tools, and spaces with more independence and fewer reminders. The librarian can frame this unit around the idea that the library is a shared community space, and that students help take care of it through safe choices, careful use of materials, thorough cleanup, and responsible routines. Through modeling, practice, and reflection, students continue growing into library learners who understand that responsibility helps everyone.
