Total Unit Duration: 5 sessions (one week), 30–45 minutes per session
I. Introduction
In this unit, students learn that they can work together to help others and make their classroom and school a better place. They think about kindness, responsibility, and inclusion, and they notice helpers in their daily lives. Then, as a class, they plan and carry out a small kindness or service project—such as writing thank-you notes, making appreciation posters, or doing a classroom clean-up. Along the way, they practice listening to each other, sharing ideas, and following through on a plan.
Essential Questions
- How can our class work together to help others?
- What does it look like and sound like when we show kindness, respect, and responsibility?
- How can one small action (like a note, poster, or clean-up) make a difference for someone?
- Why is it important to include others when we plan and do a project?
