Grade Level: PreK
Subject Area: Library (Favorite Stories • Kind Participation • Library Habits)
Total Unit Duration: 1–3 weeks, 20–30 minutes per session
I. Introduction
This PreK library unit closes the quarter by revisiting favorite stories and favorite story-response activities while reinforcing the social habits that make library time successful. Children may vote on a favorite read-aloud, revisit a beloved book basket, act out a familiar story with puppets, draw a favorite part, or rotate through favorite centers from recent units. The tone should feel joyful and celebratory while still keeping routines clear and predictable.
The librarian uses this review unit to remind children that library works best when everyone listens, waits, shares, takes turns, uses kind hands, and helps care for materials. Children reflect in simple ways on what good library behavior looks like and how they can help the group. The goal is to celebrate children’s growing love of stories while strengthening the respectful participation habits they will need for future library learning.
