I. Introduction

Students become toy designers in a Toy Designer Workshop where creativity must be supported by testing, revision, and clear explanation. In the core lesson, students brainstorm a toy idea for a specific age group or user need, sketch the design, identify important features, and create a simple prototype or concept model. The toy might be a game, building set, outdoor toy, puzzle, fidget tool, sports challenge, storytelling toy, or classroom-friendly invention.

The lesson is playful, but the academic work is serious. Students must define the purpose of the toy, explain how it works, test whether one feature performs as intended, and communicate the product clearly to an audience. They also learn that advertising should be persuasive without being misleading. The final product can be a toy prototype, product description, advertisement, or short pitch.
