I. Introduction

Writers teach their readers! This week students learn to craft a clear all-about paragraph with a topic sentence, fact/definition sentences, and a closure that wraps the idea. With guidance, they’ll plan, draft, revise, and edit for conventions so their informational writing is accurate, organized, and easy to read.


II. Objectives and Standards

Learning Objectives — Students will be able to…

  1. Plan and write an informative/explanatory paragraph that introduces a topic, supplies facts/definitions, and provides a concluding statement (W.2.2).
  2. With adult guidance, revise for clarity/organization and edit for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling patterns (W.2.5; L.2.2).
  3. Use complete sentences and correct end marks; capitalize sentence beginnings and proper nouns (L.2.2).
