Unit Plan 32 (Grade K Counselor): Friendship Skills Review

Focus: Review the friendship skills students have practiced across the year, including kindness, sharing, taking turns, listening, and inviting others to play. The counselor uses a friendship board game, role-play cards, or a class-created “good friend” chart. Students practice naming one friendship skill they want to keep using.

I. Introduction

This Kindergarten counseling lesson helps students review the friendship skills they have practiced throughout the year. Students revisit kind words, helpful actions, sharing, taking turns, waiting, listening, responding, and inviting others to play.

The counselor uses a friendship board game, puppet prompts, role-play cards, partner sharing, picture sorting, or a class-created “good friend” chart to help students celebrate what they have learned. Students practice naming one friendship skill they want to keep using in the classroom, at recess, during centers, and with classmates. The goal is for students to leave Kindergarten with simple, practical friendship tools they can use every day.
