Unit Plan 28 (Grade K Counselor): Responsible Choices in the Classroom
Teach Kindergarten responsibility with classroom choices, listening, cleanup, safe material use, helping classmates, and small school goals.
Focus: Help students identify responsible choices that support learning and safety in the classroom. The counselor uses scenarios about listening, cleaning up, using materials, helping a classmate, or following directions. Students decide which choice is responsible and explain how it helps the class.

I. Introduction
This Kindergarten counseling lesson helps students understand that responsible choices make the classroom safer, calmer, and easier for everyone to learn in. Students learn that responsibility can look like listening to directions, using materials safely, cleaning up, raising a hand, helping a classmate, taking care of shared spaces, and asking for help when needed.
The counselor uses puppets, picture cards, classroom scenarios, and simple goal-setting prompts to help students identify responsible and not-yet-responsible choices. Students decide which choices help the class and practice naming one small classroom goal they can work on. The goal is for students to connect responsibility to everyday classroom success.
