Unit Plan 9 (Grade K Library): My Library Favorites So Far
Celebrate Kindergarten library learning with favorite books, book baskets, routines, respectful sharing, curiosity, and early book-choice confidence.
Focus: Help Kindergarten students celebrate and review their early library learning by revisiting favorite books, activities, routines, and library experiences from the first quarter. Students choose favorite books or materials, try familiar and new experiences with curiosity, and participate respectfully in reading, listening, viewing, discussing, and sharing.
Grade Level: K
Subject Area: Library (Review • Book Choice • Library Confidence)
Total Unit Duration: 1–3 weeks, 50–60 minutes per session
I. Introduction
This first-quarter review unit helps Kindergarten students pause and recognize how much they have already learned about the library. Students revisit favorite read-alouds, favorite book baskets, familiar centers, and important routines from the beginning of the year. The librarian can make the unit celebratory by inviting students to vote on a favorite story, return to favorite bins, repeat a familiar center, or share a favorite library memory. At the same time, the unit reinforces that students are growing in confidence as readers, listeners, book choosers, and respectful library participants.
